There is Free Comic Book Day, and Read Comics in Public Day. There are also three Read an RPG in Public weeks. Now, because of the support and enthusiasm for Geek & Sundry’s TableTop, Felicia Day and her team have decided to create International Table Top Day.
International Table Top Day will be an annual event, beginning on Saturday, March 30, 2013.
From the press release:
“Gaming is a huge passion of mine, and I’m thrilled to help launch this event that will allow gamers all over the world to celebrate their passions together in real life.” Felicia Day, Creator and Founder of Geek & Sundry said. “The response we’ve received around our show, TableTop, has shown us that tabletop gaming brings people together in a unique and powerful way. We want to celebrate this on a larger scale and give back to our wonderful community.”
Some of the sponsors for this event include: Asmodee Editions, Days of Wonder, Mayfair Games, Steve Jackson Games, and Wizards of the Coast. In the near future, you will be able to head on over to http://www.tabletopday.com and find an event in over 1,000 locations around the globe. If you don’t find an event in your location, create one!
If you want to host an event at your business, group, or host a private event in your home, you can register your event here. If you register your private event, you can enter a raffle to receive free promotional products, and receive free digital downloads. I’m going to be phoning my local gaming store and ask them to host an event. If you have a local gaming store, you can do that, too, if you don’t feel like hosting your own event.
Even if you do not want to do any of those things, you can join Geek & Sundry on March 30 for their live-stream, and watch Wil Wheaton, Felicia Day, and more talk trash with each other while they game.
Don’t forget to share your stories via Twitter using the hashtag #TableTopDay. Not only does it help raise awareness about this event, but Felicia and the crew at Geek & Sundry will be keeping an eye on that hashtag, and may end up sharing your stories, pictures, blogs, and events.
Head on over to http://www.tabletopday.com now to download free stuff, see if an event has already been created near your location, read blogs, watch videos, and more. Most importantly, don’t forget to game!
Happy gaming!
