Yesterday, at 11:59 pm PDT, the Redshirts giveaway closed.
91 people told me about their favourite Star Trek quotes or favourite bits of technobabble. I am so happy that I didn’t have to pick what my two favourites were, because there were a lot of really awesome responses. If you haven’t read them, please do.
Using a random number generator, I chose two numbers. The numbers were 34 and 90. That means Eric Miller and Jeff Hudson each will be receiving a copy of Redshirts courtesy of TOR.
If you are curious about their favourites quotes:
General Chang: “Cry ‘havoc!’ and let slip the dogs of war”
-Eric Miller
“Our neural pathways have become accustomed to your sensory input patterns.” – Data
-Jeff Hudson
Now, the pedants and hardcores like me will probably be quick to point out that Jeff’s quote should have been:
“Our mental pathways have become accustomed to your sensory input pattern.” – Riker to Data
Time’s Arrow – Star Trek: The Next Generation
And, perhaps confusing it or combining it with the following:
As I experience certain sensory input patterns, my mental pathways become accustomed to them. The inputs eventually are anticipated. And even missed when absent. – Data to Ishara Yar
Star Trek: The Next Generation – Legacy
But I knew what he meant and what he was trying to quote, ie, it is good enough as I immediately recognised the quote.
Redshirts by John Scalzi is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Indigo Books & Music, or wherever books are sold. You can read my review of Redshirts here.

Congrats to the two winners, enjoy your loot
Being a pedant myself, I have to note that General Chang was quoting Shakespeare
Thanks!
True. But he did translate it from the original Klingon.
