On Friday, August 5, 2011, I had an absolute wonderful time having four of the SpinTunes (@SpinTunes) musicians, past and present, join me on the Geeky Pleasures Radio Show on The Look 24/7 (TheLook247). This interview was long overdue and I’m so happy that we finally got it done.
Due to a family thing coming up, Matt and Donna were unable to join us. However, it was awesome having Mark Meritt (@marksmeritt), Dave Leigh (@dr_lindyke), Denise Hudson (@RangerDenni) and Bryce Jensen (@psychobman) on the show.
If you are curious about what it takes to participate in a song writing contest or just SpinTunes and the creative process in general, you’ll get a lot from this interview.
And now, the show notes!

- Things discussed during the interview include: What is SpinTunes; Coming into SpinTunes as someone new to the community; SpinTunes as a community, not just a song writing competition; Competition vs creative outlet; Being a judge, judging your peers, being judged by your peers vs being judged by a stranger; The overall judging process; Worst challenge aka the facepalm challenge; Meeting and interpreting the challenge; Best or favourite challenge; The creative and song writing process; What is the biggest thing they’ve taken away from participating in SpinTunes; and the dos and don’ts of a song writing competition.
- At the beginning of the interview you’ll hear the Geeky Pleasures Radio Show theme song by Chris Cogott (@chriscogott).
- There is some NSFW language.
- The format is 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, stereo.
- The size is 145 MB
- The length is 2 hours 39 minutes and 3 seconds.
