Nexon America revenues jump 38 percent
Nexon America, the North American business unit of Tokyo-based Nexon Co. Ltd., has announced that its revenues have jumped 38 percent in the second quarter compared to the same period in 2010.
While growth in other segments of the video games space has continued to decline, Nexon America has been able to retain and attract players with its immersive online games and a mictrotransaction-based business model that allows customers to play for free or pay for in-game items to enhance their game play experience.
“The second quarter was an example of us doing what we do best,” said Daniel Kim, Nexon America’s CEO. “We delivered compelling content that kept our players coming back to take on adventures and have fun in our games, regardless of whether they pay a few dollars or play for free.”
During the second quarter, Nexon America aggressively delivered new content for all of its games, including premiering the Chaos saga to MapleStory, adding the unique Romeo & Juliet update to Mabinogi and making Dungeon Fighter Online and Vindictus more accessible by removing play-time barriers. Additionally, both Dungeon Fighter Online and Vindictus added huge chunks of content, which helped grow revenues from those games.
