Next Wednesday (May 11, 2011), I will be sitting down with Dan Freeman (writer, director and producer of The Minister of Chance (@MinisterChance) to pre-record an interview for the Geeky Pleasures Radio Show. It will air on Friday, May 13, 2011, beginning at 7 pm PT/ 10 pm ET/ 3 am (Saturday) UK time at The Look 24/7 (@TheLook247). If you have any questions for Dan, please email them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org, no later than Wednesday, May 11, 2011, 10 am PT/ 1 pm ET/ 6 pm UK time.
This interview is timed to coincide with the release of Episode 2: The Forest Shakes on Thursday, May 12, 2011. If you have not already downloaded the free Prologue, purchased Episode 1: The Broken World and read my review, I urge you to do so now. It really is quite brilliant.
I asked Dan to email me some words about himself. You can read them below.
I’m the writer, director and producer of The Minister of Chance. Production is the bit people don’t usually know about – that involves casting the actors, finding the engineers, booking studios and so on, but in radio it also usually involves supervising the editing and mixing.
In my radiophonics I do the editing and mixing myself, sometimes with the help of an engineer. I love using sound to create vast epic landscapes, and I love the idea of being able to go to another world just by sticking something in your ear.
I made a radiophonic series some years ago called Death Comes to Time, which featured Sylvester McCoy as Doctor Who. In that programme, The Minister was introduced as a character. Now, he gets his own series. I hope you like it!
